Impact of cleaning and other interventions on the reduction of hospital-acquired C. diff infections assessed using a breakpoint model
Background
Hospital-acquired C.difficile is one of the biggest concerns in healthcare settings. Effective infection control interventions can be difficult to monitor.
Method
The infection control data from two hospitals in England was used for statistical breakpoint analysis.
Result
While a variety of interventions are needed to control C.diff, deep cleaning incorporating HPV decontamination is most effective in reducing CDI rates.
