We have some exciting news to share!
We are pleased to welcome Jonny Lundy as our new Key Account Manager for the North. With a personal passion for infection prevention and control (IPC), Jonny has already made a significant impact, engaging with new and existing customers in his first two weeks here.
We recently had the chance to sit down with Jonny and learn more about him. In our conversation, he shared what drew him to Inivos and his interests beyond the workplace.
Can your share a bit about your background?
I’ve been in sales since I was 17. I started off working in my brothers shop then worked in customer service for a while. I went around the houses a bit and became a trainee building surveyor before deciding I wanted to be back in sales. So, I started working as an internal sales rep for a flag company in Leeds.
I then moved into field sales in the office supplies market and stayed there for about 12 years – until 2011 when I started my own successful business. In 2018 I got into the Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) industry and haven’t looked back since!
What attracted you to the role at Inivos?
I have a deep and really personal passion for IPC. Back in 2015 my daughter Zara, aged 6 at the time, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer – T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Two years into her treatment, Zara relapsed to her central nervous system and then had to undergo a Bone Marrow Transplant to save her life.
I’d always known the importance of hygiene, but my daughter’s diagnosis and all the challenges it brought shifted something in me and introduced me to a whole new dimension of IPC. It’s of paramount importance and everyone has a part to play in breaking the chain of infection!
Unlike some others on that journey, ours was thankfully a positive outcome – Zara is safe and well and has just completed her GCSE’s and will be starting sixth form in September. I do attribute IPC in helping to contribute to that positive outcome!
Inivos’ vision to eliminate the opportunity for people to acquire an infection in healthcare settings aligns perfectly with my passion. What are your top priorities and goals for your new role at Inivos?
First off, I’m diving headfirst into learning all about the technology and services we offer. I’m eager to see how these help our healthcare partners reduce HCAIs and, most importantly, save lives!
I’m also looking forward to meeting new customers and reconnecting with old ones, sharing the fantastic tech and solutions we have at Inivos. I’ll be out there, hands-on, supporting our customers with everything IPC. Whether it’s answering questions or helping implement our solutions, I’m here to make sure we’re all contributing to safer, infection-free healthcare environments.
What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
I’m a busy dad of 4 kids – aged 16, 8, 6 & 4! So they do keep my wife and I pretty busy and occupied most of the time, not to mention the dog and cat! But when we’re not off doing family stuff and visiting museums, exhibitions and going on family days out, I do enjoy running and horse riding (an interest also shared with my 8-year-old). I enjoy video games (love The Legend of Zelda series!). I fly radio-controlled drones and model aeroplanes. I love a Netflix binge in the evening with my wife, reading (but mainly via audiobook while I’m driving nowadays) and I’m into music (I love the Beatles). I also have a keen interest in technology, gadgets and emerging tech. Oh, and I carve pumpkins in October – not too bad at it either!
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?
JRR Tolkien, maybe? Why? Why not! I’d love to talk Middle Earth and all things LOTR, his experience in WW1, what inspired him to develop and write whole languages!
John Lennon – I love The Beatles and would delve into the relationships between the fab-4 at the height of their fame and popularity.
Others I’d love to speak to are Florence Nightingale, Alexander Fleming, Van Gogh, The Wright Brothers, Amy Johnson & Amelia Earhart, Alexander the Great… What about a dinner party with all of them there?
