UV-C is the most effective system to decontaminate the infected environment and protect against future MRSA outbreaks
Background
Hospital MRSA infection is one of the biggest concerns in healthcare industry. The efficacy of UV-C decontamination in reducing acquisition of MRSA and hospital outbreak was studied.
Method
The Ultra-V™ UV-C system was used to perform environmental decontamination on a gastroenterology ward infected with MRSA.
Result
After manual cleaning was not effective, the Ultra-V™ system was used. Swabs taken afterwards came back negative for MRSA.
